Registration for Paddle the Peace 2018 is now closed. We hope you are able to join us next year for the 10th Annual Paddle the Peace! Below is information for participants who have registered.
Waivers: Feel free to print and fill out your waivers before the event. It makes sign in on Saturday go a lot faster! If you forget them at home, fear not as there will be waivers on site. ALL participants are required to sign a waiver to participate. Those under 18 years will require parental consent/signature. All waivers will need a witness signature. After your waiver is signed, head to sign-in and get your Paddle the Peace goodies!
Traffic/Directions: We do not anticipate any road closures or detours on the way to Lower West Peace Boat Launch, however, there will be signage to guide you!
Shaftesbury Ferry Launch: The committee has no jurisdiction over ferry operations, therefore, participants will be launched in waves in between ferry runs. It is very important that you listen to our volunteers, so we can get everyone on the river safely and avoid any incidents with the ferry.
Strong Creek Lunch: Participants will be getting back on the water at the same time. For those that wish to end their journey at Strong Creek rather than Lower West Peace, please note that the committee and volunteers do not have the means to transport anyone from Strong Creek. You will need to make your own transportation arrangements.
Shuttles: The shuttles are used to transport participants from Lower West Peace to Shaftesbury Ferry. Participants drop off their vessels at Shaftesbury Ferry at the time indicated in the participant guide, then head to Lower West Peace to park their vehicle, fill out waivers and sign in. Please note, the shuttles will not be driving over the berm at Lower West Peace to load participants, they will be parked along 93rd street.
Survey: After you have signed out at Lower West Peace, fill out one of our surveys! Or, you can fill out an online survey. The link will be emailed out on Monday, August 20th. Everyone that fills out a survey will be entered to win 2 registrations for the 10th AnnivPaddle the Peace in 2019!
T-Shirts: T-shirts were pre-order only during online registration. For those that ordered T-shirts, you can grab them when you sign in, along with your other goodies.
Event Cancellation: The committee may cancel the event due to weather and river conditions. This includes air quality. The committee monitors the river, air and weather leading up to the morning of the event. If you feel that the smoke from the BC wildfires might affect you, it is your decision as to whether you wish to participate. No refunds will be given as per our cancellation policy. Participants are advised to bring asthma medication along with them if they require it. Should the committee cancel the event, participants will be notified via email, phone and posts on the Paddle the Peace Facebook page.
